The Colon

The key to intestinal health… and in many ways the health of the whole body—is how well  the toxins and built-up debris you have ingested are eliminated. For the colon—which includes the anus, rectum, and the whole lower abdomen—Taoists highly recommend regular cleansing practices to clear out any buildup of toxins. The most important of these practices are colonics.  Taoism teaches that organs are paired and support each other. The lower intestines are paired with the lungs, and in general, breathing deeply and mindfully—by expanding the lower abdominals to draw air into and thus expand the lungs, and then flattening the abdominal muscles to push the used air out of the body—helps to activate and repair all of the body’s natural eliminative processes. Any type of chi kung or aerobic exercise will help the elimination process by activating the lungs, which then activate their paired organ which includes the colon. Conversely, when you clean out the colon you will also improve the health of your lungs and improve your breathing.

COLONICS
Colonics are used to flush the colon with water in order to clear out impacted food waste and debris. There are two main types of colonics—an open-ended type you control yourself and a closed-end type administered by a massage therapist.

The open-ended colonic process involves the insertion into the rectum of a thin-tipped hose, which is connected to a container filled with lukewarm water, which may include coffee. The water is then gravity fed through the tube into the colon where it is retained and is then combined with an abdominal massage before being evacuated.

The closed-end colonic device operated by a colon therapist who inserts a hose with a metal tip into the rectum which sends water into the colon under regulated pressure. Abdominal massage is then used and finally suction is applied to help to pull the evacuated debris out. Coffee is used in place of water in the final cleansing.

The process of a colonic is similar to a mouthwash, except that it happens in the colon. You wash the internal skin of the colon and also release any blockages. But whereas the closed-end type uses a machine to push water in and flush it back out, the open-ended type relies on gravity and the actual rectal muscles to eliminate the water solution and its accompanying debris

If you have never cleansed your colon or rectum, and have been building up toxins for years, you can imagine what you must have inside your colon. You need to cleanse this area of the body just as you do the other end of the alimentary canal (the throat, mouth and teeth). When you cleanse your colon your body will begin eliminating a lot of excess body fat and harmful acids.

What is the big deal about massaging our sexual organs?

Ask a proper Thai woman, she would just giggle upon hearing the word krasai or karsai massage and, of course, she would say no to it. I have heard about this massage before and imagined that it was probably a massage for prostitutes for some Pat Pong performers in training.

I bravely tried karsai massage for the first time while I was taking the Female Healing Course at Tao Garden to complete the whole understanding about female sexuality. Karsai was not at all what I had imagined. It was more like a tiny chi nei tsang massage around the genital and inside the vagina. The therapist looked for lumps or crooked sen or line of ligaments and tried to smooth them out. It was not at all ‘sexual’ and during the massage it was neither ‘orgasmic’ nor particularly pleasant either. Let’s say that it was as unpleasant as when we got our first chi nei tsang (massage of the abdomen) and it got more pleasant as we cleared out the problems. Karsai also resembled a miniature Thai massage or reflexology or foot massage in our sexual organs.

It has dawn on me that our sexual organs are just organs which are connected to other organs. According to Chinese medicine, one organ can reflex the rest of the organs in the body, like the feet, the ears and the abdomen. We don’t massage the feet just to relax them but to reflex the points on them to send energy to the entire body. Some acupuncture doctors use the points in the ear to help digestion, to stimulate the stomach. While massaging our sexual organs will directly improve and fix their functions, for example lifting the sagging uterus, massaging them can release tensions in the other areas in the body. Karsai has tremendously helped release the tight muscles in my legs which is mainly the reason I have been getting it. The most amazing thing about karsai massage is that since the sexual organs are connected directly to the brain, this massage gives us energy boost in the brain instantly. We come out the massage room full of bliss and a ‘miniature enlightenment’ with our thinking cleared and emotions balanced, not in a blurry sexual way as one would have imagined it.
Breasts, ovaries, uterus and vagina are just organs that need attention and to be taken care of. Women can spend a lot of money and time to get a facial to look good but why not a karsai massage to feel good? It is the matter of understanding and a little bit of courage.

Five Elements Nutrition Alphabetic Food List

Five Elements Nutrition Alphabetic Food List

In addition to your Astrology Chart and Present Health Condition, also the season must be taken into account when choosing foods according to the five Elements; while the characteristics of the water element (Cool and Wet) are prevalent in Winter, the opposite is true in summer, when the Characteristics of Fire (Hot and Dry) prevail. Thus if we lack the water element in our chart, we would want to increase the water Element in the Summer, when the Hot and Dry prevail, and warm the water Element in the Winter, when Cool and Wet prevail. Likewise, we would choose our Menu from those foods which are warming (mostly Yang), in order to stimulate the Element, and cooling Foods (mostly Yin) to Calm any Element.

From the Food Chart choose those foods that will stimulate the Earth Element, ie. warming foods, or Yang Foods. If you, however have a surplus of a certain element in your Five Element Nutrition Chart, you would want to balance the Earth Element and you would choose those foods which are cooling or Yin for that Element.

Fasting - Juice Fasting vs. Water Fasting

Well, we no longer think water fasting is viable for the body. I think juice fasting is excellent. Not on fruit juices, but on green juices. I fast one day a week. I have been doing that for almost three decades now. I highly recommend juiced fasting over water fasting because water fasting puts too much stress on the body. Your body needs the benefits of the vitamins, minerals and enzymes of the juices. In addition, many people who come to Hippocrates Health Instituer are diseased, and their bodies could not survive on a water fast.

Some years ago, a Taoist Master, Master Mantak Chia found a beautiful piece of land at the foot of the Himalayas in Northern Thailand. This piece of land has been developed into the Tao Garden.

Master Chia chose this land as a Taoist haven where he could practice the Taoist way of life and teach others the art of internal alchemy, on which he is a leading authority.

Over 40 years, Master Chia has researched all kinds of holistic medicine and has developed the Universal Tao Healing System. This combines Taoism, Chinese, Thai and Ayurvedic Medicine with Western Medicine and Technologies.

Tao Garden offers an amazing variety of therapies and treatments from relaxing Thai massage to up to date Western technologies, which diagnose illness before it manifests itself. Treatments are offered by a traditional Chinese doctor who may prescribe herbal medicine or acupuncture. An Ayurvedic doctor brings Indian understanding, supported by herbal formulas, prepared on the premises. Ayurvedic oil massages are just one more of the treatments available. Combined with the technologies of the Western world, Tao Garden has an all-encompassing approach. The latest addition of a Hydrotherapy Pool adds another dimension to the overall experience.

The comfortable accommodation at Tao Garden offers a quiet and serene atmosphere, the perfect place to unwind and leave the stress of modern living behind.

Good air, good water, and good food are all important elements of Tao Garden. Much of the food is grown organically on the premises. The fruit and vegetables are cycled naturally, worms are raised to compost the waste and insects are raised to control the pests that eat the plants. Tropical fruit, herbs and sprouts are gathered from the fields and brought to the kitchen where they are lovingly prepared.

Start the day with morning Chi Kung practice or Tao Yin (Chinese Yoga) or use the fitness programs in the well equipped gym. At the end of the day join our instructors for Six Healing Sounds (meditation) and learn how to improve your emotional balance, increase your Chi, strengthen your body and enhance your spiritual growth.

If you have health issues or simply want to get away from it all, Tao Garden is a most welcome retreat. Tao Garden’s vision is to be ‘one of the best holistic health spas’, why not find out for yourself?

Tao Garden to Offer Raw Cuisine

Tao Garden to Offer Raw Cuisine

Tao Garden will start providing a wide variety of raw cuisine diets to its guests from July 2010. The raw cuisine will be specially prepared by Tao Garden’s professional chef. Guests will have to place orders that suit their health needs. The diet will compose of non-processed and uncooked plant foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, seeds, grains, beans, sprouts, nuts and seeds, sea weeds, roots, fresh herbs, raw spices, root vegetables and squashes. Some of these raw cuisines are already being offered at Tao Garden. They are mango coconut flan; Tao mixed salad, Kwan Yin soup, chocolate, fruit pie, organic Japanese cucumber pasta and marina paste.

Raw Cuisine’s Health Benefits

Raw cuisine diet has many benefits. Apart from boosting the digestion of other food, it can prolong a person’s life span. The raw cuisine diet to be provided at Tao Garden will also help boost the clients’ body immune system, strengthen their body muscles, and offer them mental clarity. Raw cuisine diets can also help cut weight, provide a clear, smooth skin, provide more energy and boost the body’s overall health.

Raw Cuisine Is Chemical Free

The raw cuisines provided will ensure that many chronic diseases like cancer and heart diseases are kept at bay. All the raw cuisine will be free from any chemicals and will remain 100 per cent natural. Much of the food will be grown in Tao Garden’s chemical free garden soils.

Do Not Overheat When You Have To Cook

For your information, some raw cuisine diets will not entirely remain uncooked. Some diets will be lightly cooked at temperatures not exceeding 46 degrees (115 degree Fahrenheit). Raw food above this temperature loses significant nutritional components and this can be harmful to the body. However, Tao Garden will provide the proportionate raw cuisine diets consistent with their clients’ specifications. Raw cuisines diets are also of better quality and small quantities eaten satiate an individual’s nutritional requirements. They provide 100 per cent nutritional requirements like vitamins, fats and proteins.

Preparing Raw Cuisine

The preparation of raw cuisine diets requires equipment like a food processor, a blender, a food dehydrator, due to their demanding preparation needs. The good news, however, is that preparing some raw cuisines like vegetables takes less time. Similarly, you do not need to add flavours like sugar, salt, spices in some raw cuisine diets in case you wish to avoid an irritating digestive system.
